    Whiterook’s 2021 Game Log

I’ve been on vacation the past couple weeks, and still have one week (next week) to go! I’ve had White Dog Games’, “Dog Sector” on my office desk and have been playing on and off.

Two more turns to go and trying to clear the Germans from Trench sections. A real slug-fest!

I had a lot of fun with Dog Sector... it was nice to have a fast playing game with minimal rules. It was just the ticket for relaxing vacation time play. Next up....

Boots on the Ground is the new Worthington Games series that puts you in the middle of the action. Start your mission as the Team leader of an elite group of shooters. Your team consist of a Demo expert, Heavy Weapons Expert, Medic, Scout, Sniper and you, the leader. During your briefing you are told your objectives and known intel on the area. As always, intel always changes once the Boots are on the ground. Move your force through the urban area facing an unknown number of insurgents coming from you at all angles. As the team leader you decide if you stay as a group or send out your specialist to eliminate the enemy with their special skills. Also come on the field with another team, you and another player can fight the insurgents together as Alpha and Bravo team, while the insurgents move and engage both teams with equal resolve race to see which team can complete the objectives first.

Another simple ruleset game, and cool urban warfare premise. I’ve something a little whacky in mind, inspired by Scott’s last few miniatures games, where if this plays the way it sounds, I might try it out with my Battlefield Evolution miniatures...

So, what were the positives and negatives of Crowbar?

The positive is, I own it; the negative is, I haven’t cracked the shrink wrap on it yet

"Boots" sounds like a game Josta would like. Nice T72 and figures, did you paint them up Em? These Boots rules would probably translate well to miniatures.

That’s the first thing I thought when I took out the Rulebook... 5 pages of actual rules! 2 pages of unit examples, 1 page play example, and a few scenarios. I’ve seen the game hammered ruthlessly on Crapbook, from *enlightened idiots* that say this is way to lite a game. Hell, that’s why I like it! But beyond its quick play accessibility, it’s got the bones to be expanded outside of its box and into homemade maps and miniatures, for example. The map isn’t likely to win any art awards, but it is in the Designers premise of a ‘Satellite View’... not that’s right up Scott’s design alley!

On the miniatures pictured, no... those are just Internet examples, but I do have 28mm Battlefield Evolution minis (including tanks and vehicles), as well as a couple SGC Teams that could make some interesting battles! Oh, and some Team Yankee modern minis in 15mm that need build & paint

I pay no attention to "enlightened idiots"
